Lake James Association Interested Persons:

Regarding variances and special exceptions:

 

The Lake James Association has urged the Commissioners, the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals to enforce the existing set back, lot coverage and height requirements for new construction.

 

We understand that the zoning appeals process is necessary to allow for special circumstances but we urge that, during the appeals process, the granting of special exceptions and variances be the exception and not the rule.  We are especially against granting set back or height variances when there are objections raised by adjacent or directly affected properties owners.

 

Please review the attached schedule to see if any such variance would be a concern for you.  We would urge you to go to the meeting and voice your concerns. The LJA will support you by also attending the meeting if you notify us in advance.
