I believe that SPRING has finally arrived.  The lake is a bustle of activity with docks and boat lifts going in, fishermen finding the bluegill beds, and the squawking of geese.  It’s wonderful seeing the leaves and flowers popping out.

Several people have shown an interest in the information concerning docks and shorelines shared at the LJA Board meeting in March.  I have received Information Bulletin #56 from the DNR concerning Riparian Zones within Public Freshwater Lakes and Navigable Waters.   It contains some interesting material.  You may access it by visiting www.in.gov/legislative/iac/20080116-IR-312080013NRA.xml.html.   I hope this will help answer some of your questions and concerns. 

If you haven’t signed up for Allied Waste you should consider doing that.  Remember, the recycling is easy to do when it’s picked up curbside.  We’re thrilled with our service and hope you will be too.  While speaking of “trash” I’d like to thank Sherry Fulk and the “beautification committee” for the work picking up trash along CR 200W.  We can all do our part by picking up trash and debris around our own neighborhoods.  Get out and walk your lanes with a trash bag to help clean up the winter litter.  I’ve also noticed a lot of “stuff” floating up on the shoreline.  Where does all the trash come from?
