ANGOLA - The Steuben County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting on a proposed 4,800 hog farm near County Roads 600 West and 200 North is delayed again.
Steuben County Planning officials say the hearing scheduled for Monday was canceled by the petitioner and may be re-filed at some point in the future.
K and D Contract Pork is seeking a special exception for the controversial proposed CAFO. Many nearby residents raised environmental and odor concerns. CAFO opponents have also raised the issue of reduced property values.
Keith Werner is the petitioner for the farm. He's represented by attorney John Schwarz.
Monday's scheduled hearing was postponed once before to do more fact finding after Werner was approached by some nearby residents following the Steuben County Plan Commission meeting in May.
